Our suppliers, who also qualify as partners, come from many countries throughout the world. Though the majority of our handicrafts come from Morocco and our furniture from India, one can also find products from Uruguay, Peru, Burkina Faso, Thailand… etc

The majority of our partners are directly involved in fair trade via co-operatives and some have even obtained IFAT international certification. A special label, bearing the maker’s name and location, allows one to easily identify fair trade items in the shop.

With respect to fair-trade certification, there are certain essential distinctions to be made between items. As such, only foodstuffs (rice, quinoa, chocolate, coffee… etc) can currently be certified. International certification organizations do not yet issue labels for other products, such as furnishings or handicrafts. However, producers can obtain certification from organizations like the IFAT (International Fair Trade Organization) or the FTF (Fair Trade Federation).

Consequently, only our foodstuffs are fair-trade certified by Transfair Canada or Max Havelaar (depending on origin).

Our furnishings and handicrafts are acquired either through conventional business practices or through fair-trade via members of IFAT certified co-operatives. A special label, bearing the maker’s name and location, allows one to easily identify fair trade items in the shop.

Last but not least, Kif-Kif Import itself is currently undergoing certification by the FTF (Fair Trade Federation).
