OUR COMMITMENT

Our involvement in fair and sustainable trade

The IFAT (International Federation of Alternative Trade) along with other international organizations adopted the following definition of fair trade in 2001: “Fair Trade is a trading partnership, based on dialogue, transparency and respect, that seeks greater equity in international trade. It contributes to sustainable development by offering better trading conditions to, and securing the rights of, marginalized producers and workers – especially in the South.”

With the support of you the consumer, Kif-Kif Import commits itself to actively back producers, raise awareness and campaign for change in conventional international business practices.

The term “sustainable trade” implies a commercial system favourable to stable, long-term economic growth that poses no threat to environmental or social conditions.

Our business ethics

We deal directly with independent craftsmen and certified co-operatives, applying fair and sustainable trade guidelines, which guarantee producers that their products will be marketed at better prices than those offered by conventional international exchange rates.

Furthermore, producers are selected according to norms and guidelines set by the IFAT*, creating better opportunities for otherwise economically disadvantaged producers, fostering transparency and credibility, eliminating child labour, improving working conditions, as well as promoting environmental and economic sustainability.

Finally, we also guarantee that customers pay a “fair price”, which doesn’t necessarily mean a higher one. Let’s not forget that fair trade also tends to generate higher quality products. Come play your part! Help us promote increasingly fair, just, and ultimately sustainable business practices.
